The Ethiopian Railway Corporation has been granted a level one general contractor and consultant license by the Ethiopian Construction Authority, enabling it to undertake road construction, bridge building, highway development, as well as design and consulting services.

Ethiopian Roads Administration has reached contractual agreement with Ethiopian Railways Corporation for the maintenance works of Robe-Gassera-Ginir existing gravel road Project. The project covers a length of 60Km and the signed contract amount is 249 Million ETB.

The road project is located Eastern Bale Zone, Oromia Regional estate connecting several villages and towns including Gassera – Delo sebro – Kebena and ends at Ginir town eastern Bale zone.

Officials conducted an inspection starting from Gasera, the initial point of the project, to Ginir city, where the construction will conclude. During this inspection, Mr. Habtamu Tolosa, the project manager’s representative, reported that 8.9 percent of the 60 km Robe-Gasera-Ginir Maintenance Road has been completed, with expectations for the project to reach completion next year.

The inspection also included discussions with workers regarding construction performance and challenges faced. During these discussions, Getu Gezaw (Eng.), the Deputy Chief Executive Officer of Business Development, and Wubshet Sisay (Dr.), the Deputy Chief Executive Officer of Human Resources, affirmed that the project is progressing well and that they will collaborate with relevant officials to address the identified issues. They indicated that ongoing discussions are taking place.

The project is being built by Ethiopian Railways Corporation, and the consulting and supervision work is being jointly monitored by IDCON Infrastructure development consultant PLC.
