A Visit to the Awash oil depot project, currently under construction, was conducted in the presence of the Honorable President of Afar Region, Haji Awal Arba, the delegation included the CEO of the Ethiopoian Railways Corporation Hilina Belachew (Eng.), Executive Board member Ambassador Degefe Bula, and Takele Uma (Eng.), CEO of Ethio -Djibouti Railway s.c. along with other management members of the corporation.

During the visit, the CEO of the Corporation said that the project will contribute to the reduction of traffic congestion by allowing fuel that comes only by vehicle to be brought in by rail, and that it has great national benefits in terms of connecting the Addis Ababa-Djibouti railway line with the Awash-Kombolcha-Hara Gebeya.

A discussion took place regarding the challenges and security conditions affecting the regions traversed by the Awash-Woldia- Hara Gebeya railway line. It was concluded that additional discussions would be conducted with the district and zonal governments to address issues that could potentially resolve these challenges,

Honorable President of Afar Region, Haji Awal Arba, emphasized the necessity of collaborative efforts to address the challenges faced along the railway line. He indicated that the region will collaborate with the corporation to develop a sustainable solution to the issues highlighted during the discussion.
