Ethiopian Railway Corporation – Railway Institute has been preparing for several months in collaboration with the Ministry of Labor and Skills, FDRE Technical and Vocational Training Institute (FTVTI), Zhengzhou Railway Vocational & Technical College, Addis Ababa Light Rail Transport and other similar institutions to obtain a training license and has met the qualification requirements.
Since May 13, 2025, the Federal Education and Training Authority has granted training licenses in three professions: Train driving (level 2 to 5); Railway signaling and communication Installation and maintenance (level 1 to 5) and Rolling Stock electrical and electronics maintenance (level 2 to 5).
